Hamilton Helping Hands 2017-2018 Projects

For our first Hamilton Helping Hands project we raised $1,217.00 to donate to the victims of Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria through an organization call First Book. First Book, a nonprofit social enterprise, in conjunction with a few other organizations has launched the Essentials for Kids Fund. This fund supports educators by delivering brand-new books and school supplies to areas devastated by these horrific storms. We asked Hamilton students to bring in money (no amount was too small) to fill their class collection container during the whole month of October.

Sole 4 Souls

Thank you to all the Hamilton Families that brought in shoes for the Sole 4 Souls fundraiser! We collected 200 pairs of shoes that will go to many in need of shoes to walk in and wear everyday. Thanks for participating in our first Hamilton Helping Hands fundraiser of the school year!
 Collection for Mexico Earthquake Victims
We collected over 8 boxes filled with necessary items needed for the Earthquake victims. Thank you to our fabulous “Hamilton Family” for your generous donations! Thank you Mrs. Rulli for connecting us with a great organization and delivering the items to be shipped to Mexico.
SSA Holiday Collection
Thank you to everyone who donated to the Ridgewood Social Services Holiday Collection. With your generosity we were able to fulfill the needs wish list for 6 children as well as give each a $30 Target gift card. Thank you again for your generosity, with your help, a family's holiday will be Merry and Bright!!!

Toy Drive

Thank you to everyone who donated a toy for the Paterson YMCA Supervised Visitation Program. With your generosity we were able to donate approximately 75-100 toys. A special thank you to Michele Sapoff for organizing everything!!! To the 5th graders who helped wrap all the toys along with Christine Reardon, Anna Kochanov, Mara Trager, Lisa Torsiello and a special wrapper Mrs. Pierides!!!

Veterans Day Assembly

On November 13th we had a Veteran’s Day Assembly where ten local veterans came to talk to the students about their time in the service. Some of the veterans were relatives of our very own Hamilton Families! The students prepared questions to ask the veterans and they also watched a touching video sent to us by a Wounded Warrior. As a thank you for their service and sacrifice the whole school sang a song and saluted them good bye!

12th Build-A-Bear Donation Party

Thank you to everyone who came out to build a bear for the Child Life Services at Hackensack Hospital. There were 153 bears delivered. 106 will be given to the children at the Holiday Party and the remainder of the bears are brought to the emergency room and will be given out to any children who come into the emergency room on Christmas Eve and Christmas.

Puerto Relief

Thank you to everyone who donated to help the many people still dealing with the devastating situation in Puerto Rico, our school was able to collect $340.26. Gaby Mangome, a former Hamilton student, worked with the Mayor on this project and even our little school can make a big difference. The students who participated were treated to a ‘beach day’ for their generosity!!

Heavenly Hats/Silly Hat Day

Thank you to everyone who donated to the Heavenly Hats Foundation. We were able to raise $347, which will help provide new hats to cancer patients nationwide.

Many students participated by creating or wearing a favorite hat.
